The pictures from above are from a camping trip in Wildhorse, one of our families favorite places, near Mackay, Idaho.

These pictures are from a quick trip we took to Silver City, Idaho during a dead time inbetween rodeos.

A look back at 2011

To start off the year we took a feeding job for the Wyoming Game and Fish feeding elk in the Gros Ventre.

We bought two Clydesdale fillies.

Drilled our hay field four abreast with our teams.

Trevor day worked for the Rose Ranch in Snowville, Utah off and on through the year.

Picked up rodeos in between everything else going on.

Mowed hay with our teams.

Raking hay into windrows.

Trevor showed at the 2011 Nevada All Around Show in Winnemucca and won the 4 event snaffle class. Then we pulled a wagon in the Big Hitch Parade in Sun Valley with our Clyde fillies Dolly and Polly.

And to close the year Trevor and I got our pictures in three Stoecklein calendars and two datebooks.

A perfect year, can't wait for 2012.

We get a lot of people interested in the buck rakes we use to put up our hay. You don't see many around from the when they hayed with horses in the past. Mostly because the wood has rotted out of them and only the hardware has been left behind. The two buck rakes we have were build up from scratch, all we had to start with were the front axles, the lifter, and crazy wheels.

Sun Valley Wagon Day's 2011

This year we were asked if we could bring a team and pull a wagon for the Sun Valley Wagon Day's parade. We used our 2 and 3 year of Clydesdale fillies. This was their first parade and second time to town. They were so good you would never have known that they were a set of young horses.

Today was our last day mowing hay thanks to Trevor's cousin Rod Jones. Rod came over a lot and helped mow hay with his teams and help fix equipment. I don't know what we would have done without him. Thanks a million Rod.

New Buck Rake

For those of you who don't know what a buck rake is. After hay is cut in the field you use the buck rake to bring your wind rows of hay over to where it will then be put up into a loose stack of hay. Hopefully when haying season gets here I will have more pictures of this process.

Trevor built this buck rake from scratch. The crazy wheels on the back, the front axle, and the lifter are the original parts from an old buck rake that was found in our neighbors meadow from when it was used to put up meadow hay.

As with all horses Paintstick has a history. We bought him about 3 years ago from Hoggan Rodeo Company. He is by a Shire stud and out of one of their bucking horse mares Painted Lady. Starting out as a promising looking bucking horse prospect he eventually quit and we have since used him as a ranch horse to rope cattle, wrangle horses, and a pick up horse at rodeos.
